Thanks, Jackie!

My friend Jackie brought this article to my attention. Unfortunately, I'm inclined to agree with most of its conclusions.

  1. Hey, I sent you a letter today. Hopefully it gets there faster than a package. I love you!

  2. Hi Tamar, I'll be arriving with the new Senegal group coming in the beginning of March. Thanks for posting that article, although I have to say it definitely deflates the impression that everything else the PC uses to promote their image. At first I felt why am I reading this a month before my departure, its just going to kill my excitement to get there. Having been living and working in Senegal and considering your comment about the article, what did it make you feel about the overall experience so far? By the end of the article I kind of took it as a challenge and motivation to make sure that I actually make something good of my time there. I know that sounds extremely cliché, but I’m hoping I’m one of the more qualified, “non-deadbeats” that the article mentioned the general lack of in applicants. Either way thanks for providing a good counterpoint, I think with all the pre-departure hype that was a good sobering moment to make me think about what the next two years should hopefully be about.

  3. I read the article and it reminded me of an experience some 30 years ago at Motorola.
I had bitched about a problem we were having in the field to the executive VP. He very calmly told me that he didn't want to hear complaints about problems, unless a solution was suggested at the same time. So, this my response to Robert L. Strauss' article: Nice bitching but that's useless and counter productive without proposing specific solutions.
More Nishikot n' stuff, Marush! from Aba.
